Manchester United Loan Tyrell Malacia to PSV Eindhoven
Loan Deal Confirmed
Manchester United have officially announced the loan transfer of full-back Tyrell Malacia to Dutch club PSV Eindhoven, as reported on the club’s official website. The move represents a good deal for the Red Devils, who will not be responsible for Malacia’s salary during the loan period and have also included a 30% sell-on clause in the agreement.
Malacia’s Struggle and Departure
Malacia has struggled since returning from a knee injury that kept him sidelined last season. The 25-year-old has only featured in eight games under manager Ruben Amorim, as he has failed to adapt to the left wing-back role in the manager’s 3-4-2-1 formation.
With the arrival of Patrick Dorgu from Lecce, United decided it was necessary to loan Malacia out to provide him with more playing time. The move was initially linked with Benfica, but the deal eventually collapsed, paving the way for PSV to secure his services.
Malacia has previous experience in the Eredivisie, having played 98 times for Feyenoord before joining Manchester United. This familiarity with the Dutch league should allow him to quickly adapt to his new surroundings at PSV.
The Netherlands international will have the opportunity to win his first league title with the Dutch side, who currently sit atop the league standings, two points ahead of rivals Ajax.
Malacia will compete with Mauro Junior for the starting left-back position, as the Brazilian has been a regular in the PSV lineup, missing only two league games when fit.
With the signing of Dorgu and the imminent arrival of Paraguayan left-back Diego Leon, it is unlikely that Malacia will feature for Manchester United again in the near future.
